The hydropower plant, Pereira, is located in the municipality of Castro Daire, district of Viseu, on the Carvalhosa creek. It is part of RP Global’s operating portfolio of small hydropower plants in Portugal. Pereira is a 'run-of-river' type hydropower plant, that includes a 600 rpm turbine with three jets, a small weir with no storage, a 1.5 km low pressure pipeline, a surge tank, a 1 km penstock and a power house. The power house is situated on the right margin of the Paiva River. All pipes are buried in order to minimize any aesthetical or environmental impact. Pereira was connected to the grid in 2007.
